Today was a reminder of why I founded Celebrate Life08, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Having lost four siblings to cancer and facing my own diagnosis, the need to make a difference in the lives of others battling this disease became my mission. Sylvia and I took a special trip to the Novant Cancer Center in Mint Hill, not to visit patients, but to express our gratitude to the dedicated workers who tirelessly support those fighting cancer. As we delivered gift bags to the team in the infusion center, a flood of memories washed over me. Sixteen years ago, during my own battle with cancer, my chemo infusion nurse stood out as a beacon of support, humor, and love. Little did I expect to encounter her again today. As she recognized me first, we embraced tightly, tears flowing freely down my cheeks. It was a reunion filled with joy, gratitude, and a sense of divine confirmation. Seeing Morgan, my nurse from all those years ago, and feeling her genuine happiness at my recovery reaffirmed that I am on the right path. It’s a path guided by faith, resilience, and the unwavering support of loved ones like my sister Sylvia, who sat by my side during every chemo session and continues to stand by me in our ministry of spreading love and hope to others facing similar battles.
As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude to God, to Morgan, to Sylvia, and to all those who have supported me along the way. Together, we will continue to spread love, hope, and healing to all those touched by cancer, turning moments of pain into celebrations of LIFE.
